Vice head. Department of Intensive Care Medicine. Santiago Hospital. Vitoria, Spain. Date of birth: December 27, 1962. Education and training: Graduated in Medicine at Zaragoza University in 1988. From July 1989 to December 1993 he has been internal resident at the Intensive Care Dpt. of the Virgen del Camino Hospital. Pamplona. Professional activities: Working in Critical Care areas from 1989 till today. Working in Interventional Radiology during the last 3 years. Teaching activity: From 1997 to 2010 teaching program of Nephrology and RRT at Professional Nursing School in Vitoria. Chairman of the postgraduate teaching Spanish program on RRT. Lectures and seminars in several Universities. Research fields: Applied pharmacokinetics in CRRT. ARF and RRT epidemiology. Haemodynamic monitoring. Lectures and publications: 21 papers, 2 books, 15 book chapters and more than 150 lectures. Awards: 1994 Rui Carrington Award, for the best qualification at the Exam for the Pan-American Intensive Care Medicine Society Other activities: chairman of several congresses and meetings in the area of nephrology and critical care. Member of the Cochrane Collaboration Renal Group. Member of several advisory/editorial boards for clinical trials, industries and journals.
