| Helen Currier, BSN, RN, CNN Director, Renal & Pheresis Services Nursing Research Scholar, Center for Clinical Research Texas Children's Hospital Houston, TX USA Currier is involved in clinical research on national and local levels. She is a graduate of the Nursing Research Scholars’ Program at Texas Children’s Hospital. Her research interests include pediatric renal replacement therapies, issues facing chronically ill children, quality of life for pediatric ESRD patients and health care environmental design. She is a frequent presenter in national and international forums. Her publications include five chapters on pediatric nephrology nursing. Recently she served as a consultant to the American Nephrology Nursing Association’s revision of the Standards and Guidelines of Clinical Practice for Nephrology Nursing. Currier is a pre-eminent nursing figure in national professional groups and serves on the board of directors for the World Foundation of Renal Care. She acknowledges the importance of the environment in healing and is an enthusiast for The Art of Texas Children’s Hospital. Currier is an instrumental member of a design team emphasizing healing environments for pediatric HIV/AIDS clinics in Africa. |
