Richard Amerling, MD was born and raised in New York City, graduating Stuyvesant High School and the City College of New York. He attended medical school at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, graduating with honors in 1981. Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine were completed in New York, and his Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Amerling is a frequent contributor to Nephrology News and Issues, and lectures on diverse topics. He is recognized as a leader in slow continuous dialysis, continuous flow peritoneal dialysis, and as a critic of practice guidelines.
