| Ashita Tolwani, MD Associate Professor, Division of Nephrology University of Alabama at Birmingham Birmingham, AL U.S.A. Ashita Tolwani, MD (MSc), Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Tolwani is also the Director for the Nephrology fellowship program at UAB. Dr. Tolwani completed her nephrology fellowship at UAB and joined the Division as a faculty member in 1999. Her interests are in clinical outcomes research in nephrology, specifically with issues concerning continuous renal replacement therapy in patients with acute renal failure in the intensive care unit. She received a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in June 2004. Dr. Tolwani is the recipient of a Pfizer Scholars grant for Faculty development in Clinical Epidemiology (only two awarded each year) and completed a randomized prospective study comparing high dose continuous veno-venous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) with standard dose CVVHDF in critically ill patients with acute renal failure. Her other research interests include the use of anticoagulants during continuous renal replacement therapy. |
