Michael Zappitelli, MD, MSc practices Pediatric Nephrology, currently Assistant Professor in Pediatrics and Director of the Extracorporeal Blood Therapy and Peritoneal Dialysis Program in Montreal Canada. After training in Pediatric Nephrology and in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University, Montreal, Canada (2003-2005), he completed a research fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Nephrology at Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas (2005-2007). He has performed research in estimating glomerular filtration rate in children, using serum creatinine and cystatin C-based equations, has published manuscripts on the use of early biomarkers of acute kidney injury in children and on the validation of a pediatric definition for acute kidney injury and has written several book chapters on diagnosis and management of pediatric acute kidney injury. He also performed research in the area of nutritional provision in children treated with continuous renal replacement therapy. Currently, he continues to perform research in early biomarkers of acute kidney injury in children and on epidemiology and definition of pediatric acute kidney injury.
