Sunita Puri M.D. is the Medical Director of the Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care Service at the Keck Hospital and Norris Cancer Center of USC. She also chairs the Ethics Committee at USC Hospitals and teaches medical ethics, palliative medicine, and advanced communication skills to all levels of trainees. She is the author of the critically acclaimed literary memoir, That Good Night: Life and Medicine in the Eleventh Hour, published by Penguin Random House in 2019. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Slate, JAMA, and JAMA-Internal Medicine. She lectures widely about the importance of palliative medicine in the care of seriously ill patients, and is the recipient of the Etz Chaim Award from the USC School of Medicine for a faculty member who in the eyes of the campus community models compassion and humanism in medical practice.
